ORLEANS, CAPE COD, MASS. – The Addison Holmes Gallery will feature, through July 26, new oils by Karri Allrich. A graduate of the Corcoran School of Art, Allrich paints within the framework of realism, her expressive landscapes and “Sky Poems” reflect her deep affiliation to the natural world. Interested collectors are invited to preview the show Friday, July 21 or on the web. www.addisonart.com. Works shown will rotate as pieces are acquired.
While hiking and exploring, Allrich collects impressions with sketches and photographs, returning to her studio inspired to create her oils on canvas. With her belief in the sacredness of nature, the artist has linked herself to the Tonalists, artists whose reverence for the natural world translates into elegant, moody oils that transcend time and place, evoking the spirit of the landscape, avoiding detail in favor of capturing the elusive passage of a moment in time.
Allrich was selected as the 1994 Cover Artist for the Pops By The Sea, sponsored by the Arts Foundation of Cape Cod. Over two dozen of her paintings have been published as limited edition prints. Her works have been selected for reproduction by Claire Murray Designs and a number of art card firms. She has exhibited at the Copley Society and the Cahoon Museum of American Art.
The gallery is at 43 South Orleans Road. For information, 508/255-6200.
