LONDON — Sotheby’s will offer an Eighteenth Century Chinese imperial musket on November 9 with a presale estimate of £1/1,500,000. The matchlock musket was produced in the emperor’s workshops and is finely decorated in silver and gold. From a series of muskets, it was one of the first firearms produced for the Qianlong emperor and it inspired him to write a poem, which you can hear spoken throughout this video.
