It was standing room only at the St Charles Gallery sale held July 26′7. This auction included many fine antiques, including property from the estates of former St Louis Cathedral organist Dr Elise M. Cambon and millionaire philanthropist John A. Marque.
In addition, the sale featured the first part of the southern art collection of Dr James W. Nelson of Gonzales, La.
Sales results include $5,280 for a four-piece Venetian bedroom set; $5,520 for a Louis XVI-style parcel-gilt vitrine; $2,400 for a group of three American Belleek porcelain vases; $4,560 for a Robert M. Rucker watercolor; $12,000 for a monumental pair of doorway cornices; $8,700 for a Knute Heldner oil on canvas; $10,800 for a three-piece Amerbed set.
Also, $3,840 for a late classical settee; $4,320 for an Alexander Drysdale watercolor; $10,200 for a rococo revival rosewood parlor etagere; $7,800 for an Alberta Kinsey oil on canvas; $8,400 for a James Michalopoulos oil on canvas; $7,500 for another rosewood parlor etagere; and $4,560 for a seven-piece rosewood parlor suite in the manner of Alexander Roux.
