Stella Show Mgmt Co. has received an okay from the National Guard unit commander for the 69th Regiment Armory to go ahead with the Armory show on January 18, 19 and 20.
The development resolves an armory scheduling problem related to US military troop deployments to Afghanistan and their need to use the building as a staging and training site. Stella was notified last month that there might be conflict between the show’s dates during the all-important Americana Week in New York City and the National Guard unit’s training requirements. That prompted Irene Stella to begin searching and negotiating for an alternative site, which no longer is necessary.
Also good news for antiques fans, Stella said that it is rejiggering space for its November Pier show in order to add another 60 dealers on Pier 92.
“We didn’t need all the space on Pier 92 for our ‘Others’ art show,” said Stella. “We will have a total of 510 dealers in November, almost back to the 600-dealer show we’ve had in the past,” said Stella. The November Pier show is set for November 17 and 18.
