NEW YORK CITY — In anticipation of the snowstorm forecast for New York and the surrounding areas on Monday evening and Tuesday, March 14, and for the safety of its clients and staff, Sotheby’s Asia Week sales scheduled for Tuesday, 14 March will move to the following two days.
The revised sale schedule is as follows:
Wednesday, March 15 — Ming: The Intervention of Imperial Taste, 10 am; Important Chinese Art Session I – 10.30 am; Indian, Himalayan and Southeast Asian Works of Art – 10 am; Important Chinese Art Session II – 2 pm.
Thursday, March 16 — Modern and Contemporary South Asian Art, 10 am; Fine Classical Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, 10 am and 2 pm.
At press time, Sotheby’s was planning to remain open for exhibition viewing on Tuesday, March 14; however, this may be subject to change depending on the conditions. For up-to-date information, 212-606-7000 or www.sothebys.com.
Christie’s is moving sales from Tuesday, March 14, to Wednesday, March 15. At press time, the firm’s communications department was awaiting news of full building closure, which it said it will communicate. Those additional updates will be available at www.christies.com.
Fine Chinese Paintings will be offered on Wednesday, March 15, at 10 am, and the Indian, Himalayan and Southeast Asian Works of Art sale is set for Wednesday, March 15 at 2 pm.
Unrelated to Asia Week, but still in Stella’s path, Auctions by Cameron in Vernon, Conn., has cancelled its weekly Tuesday auction. Its next sale will be the following Tuesday.
