BELLOWS FALLS, VT. — Augusta Auctions presented its Vintage Winter Wonderland auction on December 4 with 250 lots, many of them new-to-market, from international public and private collections. This sale’s shining sun was a late Nineteenth Century Mandarin jacket and skirt ensemble made for warmer weather from patterned silk gauze. The garments were in very good to excellent condition, retaining vibrant appliqué and embroidered decoration throughout. Deaccessioned from the Valentine Museum, this lot contributed $5,375 ($1,2/1,500) to the auction’s $137,500 total, including buyer’s premium. More on additional top lots to follow.
