NEW YORK CITY – Salander-O’Reilly Galleries will hold an exhibition of paintings by Tom Goldenberg through December 28.
Twelve new landscapes inspired by Northern Dutchess County, N.Y. were made with meticulously hand-ground pigment suspended in linseed oil, and scaled in size from cabinet pictures to one expansive painting six-and-a-half by eight feet long.
The building of space in these paintings is of particular concern to the artist. In making the transition from abstract to representational art, such as Goldenberg has done, the elements of composition, drawing and color are subjected to a rigorous order.
The gallery, 20 East 79th Street, is open Monday to Saturday, 9:30 am to 5:30 pm. For information, 212-879-6606.
