Cancelled:
NEW YORK CITY – Stella Show Mgmt. Co. regretfully announced this week the cancellation of the very popular Triple Pier Antiques Show in New York City advertised for November 10-11 and 17-18 and then publicized as moved to The Jacob Javits Center for November 17-18. Due to enhanced security measures at Javits and the extremely narrow window the Javits was permitting for set up, Stella Show Mgmt. Co. was forced to cancel the internationally known, trend-setting Triple Pier Antiques Show normally held at the Passenger Ship Piers in Manhattan.
“Current security regulations negate the possibility of unloading even half of the vehicles needed to set up a show of this size in the allotted time. We determined it was in the best interests of our exhibitors not to hold the show under the current conditions,” state Leanne Stella, company president.
“Every day following September 11 has been a long arduous process, and this was one of the hardest decisions we have ever had to make. We know that the dealers depend on some of our New York events for a substantial portion of their annual income, but the set up conditions at Javits would have been truly impossible and the piers are officially, and unfortunately, unavailable. Even though we were maintaining our booth rents at the contracted rates, our dealers would have incurred additional show expenses, endured painful traffic patterns and a horrendous load in, all during a highly risky retail market and low visitor volume in Manhattan. We will be crediting our exhibitors deposits and focusing all of our efforts on a strong 2002 season.
“Everyone at Stella Show Mgmt. Co. thanks all of their antiques dealer friends for their tremendous support and look forward to many more years of working together. We look forward to New York City getting back on track in the near year and to bigger and better Triple Pier Shows in March 2002 and thereafter.”
