Back in the Civil War era when America felt pressure on its heels, a contingent of folk artists emerged who traveled the healthier route and outwardly expressed their patriotic feelings in the form of an object. They lowered their readied knives to wood and began carving out their idea of what their great country embodied. And because they did, an entire genre of American Civil War antiques emerged for us to enjoy, and reflect on today. A carved Civil War photograph frame and an impressive Confederate veteran’s carved pedestal come to sale this month as they join lots from around the United States in this week’s picks.
