VINELAND, N.J. — Bertoia’s Spring Hybrid Sale, May 11-12, offered single-owner collections of cast iron toys and doorstops, both assembled more than 40 years, along with country store and automotive advertising, pedal cars, boxed sets of soldiers and other figures and banks. Two of the top five items in the sale were trade signs: a 53-inch tin Dr Pepper sign in near mint condition earned $13,200, while a 42-inch double-sided porcelain sign for a Buick service shop brought $7,200. An Arcade 15-inch white shovel-nose gasoline truck drove out at $9,000 and led the selection of cast iron automotive toys. Folk art included a restored outside-row Dentzel carousel horse, with known provenance, which achieved $8,400. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium; a full report will follow.
