WHITEHOUSE STATION, N.J. – The lifetime collection of Bill Werbell, with select additions, is being sold over two days, June 11 and 12, at RSLAuctions, 295 US highway 22 East, with 1,318 lots in the sale. With Richard Opfer wielding the hammer, 576 lots were sold Saturday including mechanical and still banks, cast iron toys, penny toy banks, spelter and silvered lead banks, Schuco windup toys and Lehmann toys. The sale will continue on Sunday, June 12, starting at 10 am with more of the same, but of greater variety and rarity.
Of importance on Sunday will be a Mammy and Child mechanical bank with a pre-sale estimate of $25,000-35,000, and a large version of the Old South Church still bank estimated to bring between $25000 – 35,000. Among the Cast iron toys to be sold is the Two Story Burning Building, estimated at $35,000-45,000.
