Two paintings related to William Trost Richards were taken from a Newport art gallery during business hours on September 27.
Stolen was Anna Richards Brewster’s (1870‱952) painting titled “The William Trost Richards Family Farm House at Oldmixon Farm, Chester County, Pennsylvania,” an oil on canvas work laid down on board measuring 8½ by 12¼ inches. Inscribed on the verso is “The House at Oldmixon where WTRP was born. The ‘Big House’ visible on the hill.”
The second painting is an oil on panel by William Trost Richards (1833‱905) and is titled “Capri,” 3 3/8 by 6 1/16 inches and inscribed with title on verso.
