CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Vera Lee Vistreich Sack died at 5:10 pm February 8, 2023, surrounded by her family. She was born on November 7, 1930, to Magda Kaldor Vistreich and Dr Fernand Vistreich. After graduating from Katherine Gibbs secretarial school, she worked as an executive secretary for Grey Advertising in New York City. In 1956, she met and married antiques dealer Robert Sack and they were happily married for 50 years before his death in 2006.
Lee became a full-time mom to her daughter, Lyn, in 1957; the family moved to Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., in 1960 and had another daughter, Gail. Throughout their childhoods, Lee was active in PTA and school related activities. Eventually she spent several terms on the local school board. Lee was an excellent cook and famous for her dessert parties. She continued to be active in the community and Temple Israel of Northern Westchester.
When her children left for college, she took a job as an office administrator in the office of Dr Richard Parrino. After that she volunteered at Phelps Memorial hospital until she moved to North Carolina at the end of 2018 to be closer to Gail. She was welcomed and embraced by the Trinity Oaks community in Salisbury.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Broadway for Arts Education or the food bank or women’s shelter of your choice.
Services took place at Temple Israel of Northern Westchester in Croton-on-Hudson, N.Y., and also at Trinity Oaks in Salisbury, N.C.; she was interred privately at Sharon Gardens Cemetery in Valhalla, N.Y.
