It takes more than a hurricane to keep a good antiques show down, let alone five antiques show. Despite record flooding in late August in many parts of the state, Vermont Antiques Week show promoters are putting out the word that the shows are a go. The shows will take place September 29⁏ctober 2 and highways will be open.
Most repairs to washed-out roads leading to the show venues have already been finished at press time, according to Don Clegg, who manages the Okemo Antiques Show. In a survey of the other show promoters, he said everyone was raring to go and expected no complications to the shows from the storm.
The slate of shows includes Weston Antiques Show, running September 28⁏ctober 1; Okemo Antiques Show, September 30⁏ctober 1; Ludlow Antiques Show, September 30⁏ctober 1; Bromley Mountain Antiques Show, October 1′; and the Antiques in Vermont show October 2.
One worker at the Okemo Mountain Resort, which hosts the Okemo show and is currently feeding/housing emergency workers, said it best, “We Vermonters are a hardy bunch&⁖ermont is definitely open for business, and we do need the business.” ⁁VV
