NEW YORK CITY — “One of the surprises for me is how varying he really was,” said Ian Alteveer, curator in the department of modern and contemporary art at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. “He, at a very young age, was expressing themes of clearness and difference and displaying them very proudly in his work.” In what will be the American artist’s major exhibition in New York City in the past 30 years, David Hockney’s retrospective follows his evolving style from a young age all the way through to his present-day works. The exhibition begins November 27 and continues through February 25, 2018. For more information, www.metmuseum.org.
