CHICAGO — The Art Institute of Chicago has a long history of exhibiting John Singer Sargent, America’s beloved portrait painter. Though he began exhibiting in the Windy City in 1888 with “Street in Venice,” it did not take long for the Art Institute to catch on, including his portrait of Carmen Dauset in an 1890 exhibition. The museum has rounded back to him for the first time in three decades with their new exhibit “John Singer Sargent and Chicago’s Gilded Age,” which focuses on the painters connections to the city. The exhibition is on view through September 30. For more information, sargent.artic.edu/ or 312-443-3600.
