NEW YORK CITY — Curators at the Metropolitan Museum of Art recount the background behind one of the finest surviving examples of goldsmith work to come out of Colonial Spanish America. Emanating from Colombia, the crown features fine repousse and hammering over 5.3 lbs of gold and inset with over 400 emeralds.
