NEW YORK CITY – In Swann Auction Galleries’ November 26 Contemporary Art auction, Andy Warhol’s “Black Bean” from “Campbell’s Soup I” checked out for the highest price — $57,500 including buyer’s premium ($30/50,000). The color screenprint on smooth wove paper, approximately 35 by 23 inches, was signed in ballpoint pen and numbered “132/250” with a rubber stamp to the reverse. This edition, from Warhol’s first “Campbell’s Soup” portfolio, was printed by Salvatore Silkscreen Co., Inc., New York, and published by Factory Additions, New York, in 1968. Additional Contemporary Art highlights to come in a future issue.
