AMESBURY, MASS — John McInnis’ July 29 auction started off with a collection of weathervanes, but a 1982 Porsche 911SC Super Carrera coupe topped them as did a rare Shaker rocker. The single-owner car brought $52,080. In second place was a rare Shaker rocker from the Harvard, Mass., community which sold for $33,480, more than eight times the estimate. A full-bodied copper bull weathervane, 32 inches long, earned $22,940. In all, about a dozen weathervanes from a collection assembled in the 1970s did well, as did clocks, folk art, a rare California map and a Tiffany turtleback desk lamp. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium as reported by the auction house. A full report to follow.
