MANHEIM, PENN. — A tiny Weber box brought a good-sized price February 27 at Conestoga Auction Company’s single-owner sale of collector/dealer Corinne H. Machmer’s lifetime collection.
The paint decorated, trinket chest in pine, circa 1820–40, measured 2 1⁄8 by 3 7⁄8 by 2 1⁄4 inches and attained $22,420, including the 18 percent buyer’s premium. Having a mustard yellow ground with flowering plant and pine tree decoration on the front panels and stylized tulips on the sides, the chest hailed from Lancaster County.
