EAST DENNIS, MASS. — The top lot of the Thomas Mittler Scrimshaw Collection that was offered at Eldred’s marine art auction on Saturday, October 15, was a scrimshaw sperm whale’s tooth by W.L. Roderick, mid-Nineteenth Century, bringing $180,000, including the buyer’s premium, which was triple the high estimate.
