HILLSBOROUGH, N.C. — Leland Little conducted three different sales of fine art, jewelry and decorative arts on consecutive days, December 11-13. The top price realized of any of those days was $78,000, for a watercolor and gouache on paper landscape by Winslow Homer (American, 1836-1910) that was titled “Reapers.” Previously owned by the late Raleigh, N.C., collector Frances Stagg Nicholson Sanders, it attracted extensive bidding, but in the end, a collector on the East Coast had the prevailing bid. By the time the third sale closed on December 13, the house had a cumulative yield of $1.14 million. Prices quoted include the buyer’s premium; an upcoming issue will feature a review of highlights from all three sales.
