– A large selection of Nakashima furniture led the way at David Rago and John Sollo’s Twentieth Century Modern Auction this past weekend, October 25-26.
The sale grossed an impressive $1.8 million with numerous record prices established throughout the weekend. Leading the way was a George Nakashima free-form slab walnut coffee table that more than doubled the low estimates selling at $35,700.
According to auctioneer David Rago, the auction was “rock solid” from start to finish with more than 890 registered internet bidders, 150 phone bidders, hundreds of absentee bids and a standing room only crowd.
A complete review of the sale will appear in a future issue.
