NAPLES, FLA. – Alice Hamilton, 78, died on June 5. Alice was the wife of Derek Hamilton with whom she shared a love of antique silver; they were antique silver dealers who showed under the name H and H Antiques, “A Source of Interesting Silver,” of New Canaan, Conn., where they lived for 47 years. She is remembered by people at The Bee as the “silver lady,” who came to the offices with Derek bringing their show ads that featured Alice holding some silver offering.

Alice was born and spent her early years in Augusta, Ga., lived in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, and New York City; for the last year the Hamiltons have lived in Naples.

Alice is survived by her husband, Derek; daughter, Alice (Lisa) Chatillon and husband, Richard Reed of San Antonio, Texas; son, John Chatillon of Madison, Conn.; and grandchildren, Anna Chatillon-Reed, Austin Chatillon-Reed, Kristen Chatillon, Catherine Chatillon and Cater Chatillon.

Marilyn Gould, at whose Wilton shows the Hamilton’s always exhibited, remembers them as “knowledgeable in their field and dedicated dealers who were supportive of other dealers. They were remarkable friends who never let ill health get in the way of helping other people.”

Services were held on Saturday, June 10, in the Westover Memorial Park Mausoleum. Arrangements were made by Thomas Poteet & Son Funeral Directors, 214 Davis Road, Augusta.
