Fred H. Bennett, 88, died February 15 at Bethel Health Care Center. A resident of Newtown since 1962, Mr Bennett was the owner of Poverty Hollow Antiques until his retirement in 1998. He was the husband of Margaret (Allen) Bennett.

Born in nearby Shelton, November 2, 1919, he was a son of Fred and Catherine (Condon) Bennett. Raised on his family’s farm, in his earlier years, he was employed as a millwright for the Carpenters Union.

In addition to his wife, Bennett is survived by two sons, Fred M. Bennett of Holden, Mass., and David Bennett of Bridgewater, Conn., and six grandchildren.

Funeral services took place February 19 from the Honan Funeral Home, Newtown, and in St Rose of Lima Church for a Mass of Christian Burial. Interment followed in Riverside Cemetery, Shelton.
