Nancy Hawk Gilbert, 74, died September 11 at Overlook Hospital in Summit, N.J. She was the owner and operator of Nancy and Alan Gilbert Antiques in Mountainville, Tewsbury Township, Hunterdon County, for more than 30 years.
Gilbert was born in Allentown, Penn., on January 19, 1934, a daughter of the late Walter P. and Myrtle Snyder Hawks. She had resided in Summit before moving to Bedminster 41 years ago and was a graduate of LaSalle College in Auburn, Mass.
Gilbert was a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother who enjoyed being attentive to the needs of her family.
She was a member of the Lamington Presbyterian Church and a former member of the Maplewood Women’s’ Club.
Nancy Hawk Gilbert is survived by her husband of 50 years, Alan D. Gilbert; two sons, A. David Gilbert of Far Hills, N.J., and John H. Gilbert of Peapack, N.J.; four grandchildren, Libby, Sarah, Katie and Abby; and a brother, Walter P. Hawk Jr of Garden City, Mo.
A memorial service was held at the Lamington Presbyterian Church, Bedminster. Private burial was in the Lamington Presbyterian Church Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Ocean Grove Camp Meeting Association, 54 Pitman Avenue, Ocean Grove N.J. 07756.
