NEW YORK CITY — The Armory Show officially opened to the world on Thursday, March 3 2016, under new direction by executive director Benjamin Genocchio. The show is split between Piers 92 (Modern) and 94 (Contemporary) and features 205 dealers from 35 countries. With the work of over 2,000 artists on display and a wide range of style and medium, it is safe to say that the show keeps pace with the art capital of the world in which it resides. All in all, it is a telling show demonstrating the infinite capacity of human kind. We bring you a taste of some of our favorite booths.

The Armory Show’s new executive director Benjamin Genocchio welcomes the press to the 2016 show. Genocchio shared the stage with New York City’s deputy director of cultural affairs, Edwin Torres; ADAA’s recently appointed president, Adam Sheffer; Glenn Lowry, director of the Museum of Modern Art; and Julia Gross and Yvette Mutumba, curators of the “Focus: African Perspective” on Pier 94. Genocchio remarked, “New York is in many ways the most international city in the world, and it’s befitting that the Armory Show 2016 is easily the most international art fair in the world.”

Barcelona, Spain based gallery Mayoral recreates Joan Miro’s art studio on Pier 92. The fabulous display includes original works of art by the Modern master in an homage to his personal environment. Do not miss out on the artist’s tools, brushes and ephemera, which are also for sale.
