BUFFALO, N.Y. – Frank A. Scheuttle, 70, owner of SilentVoices Art & Antiques, died at home November 27.

“Frank spent a quarter-century teaching language arts and history in Buffalo’s public schools. Throughout his teaching career, he was dedicated to working with at-risk students from across the city in the era before special education. He was a founder of Buffalo Alternative High School, the First Ward vocational school that opened in 1975 with a mission to serve troubled students who were not able to succeed at other schools,” wrote Ron Korman of Muleskinner Antiques in his recent e-mail newsletter. After Frank retired from this career, he opened a shop on Hertel Avenue, where he specialized in early Americana and Western New York art.

“Frank was ‘a student of everything’ and a ‘huge personality’ who committed himself fully to every aspect of his life – whether it was teaching, collecting, music or family life. He pushed himself to do as much as he could do all the time, whether it was business or pleasure. He was always pushing himself to fit it all in, and he did,” recalled Korman.

Frank is survived by his wife MJ and their sons, Marshall John and Morgan Joseph, and was predeceased by a daughter, Sarah.
