HARTFORD, CONN. — The Cooley Gallery has opened an exhibition of paintings by contemporary Connecticut artist William Lustenader at The Polytechnic Club, on the 22nd floor of the Hartford Steam Boiler and Inspection Company building. in downtown Hartford.
Through ongoing exhibitions, The Cooley Gallery, in partnership with the Polytechnic Club, continues the insurance company’s original mission of exhibiting exceptional works by Connecticut artists. The show will continue through January 4.
Lustenader lives and works in Connecticut with a studio in New Haven. He began as a self-taught artist who found an aesthetic kinship with Seventeenth Century Italian painters and went on to study Old Masters at The Courtauld Institute of Art in London. Whether figurative, still life or landscape subjects, Lustenader’s affinity with those historic painters echo throughout. His landscapes have been referred to as “almost spiritual.”
