A sale of long-time New Canaan collectors with a historic property incorporating an antique barn rescued from the early Colonial community of Dantown, that was flooded to create a reservoir in the 1920’s. The owners created a charming and elegant atmosphere with sophisticated country pieces of French and English antiques, paintings and decorative arts.
Highlights include: French marble top Louis-Philippe Commode, LXV Petite Commode, Georgian mahogany small chest, French provincial cherry Buffet and dining table, 8 French carved & painted LXVI Style Dining Chairs, Swedish pine Bench; 19thC. Still Life and Landscape Paintings, English Portrait and Hay Wagon Scene, and Dutch Harbor Scene by Deverin; Engravings by J. Kips and S.F. Denton; English Primitive Cow Painting, Nantucket Folk Art by Elizabeth Dean; and large Connecticut Landscape painting by Hunter Mallory.
