STAMFORD, CONN. — More than 300 lots from local estates were included in ACES Gallery’s February 22 Winter Estates Auction. Earning the sale’s highest price was a Franklin Mint “The 100 Greatest Masterpieces” gilt coins set. The 100 gold vermeil on sterling silver coins in this first-edition proof set were numbered 6251 and about 50 of them were placed in the drawers of the fancy presentation box; all others were in their original sleeves. Together, the “Masterpieces” brought $11,590, including buyer’s premium, besting its estimated $6/8,000. An upcoming issue will highlight more results from this auction.
