
ATHENS, GA. — On January 24, Cagle Auction Company conducted its 256-lot Southern Pottery & Folk Art Auction. The highest price of the day, $4,320 with premium, was realized by a two-gallon decorated jug by Thomas Chandler of Edgefield, S.C. The kaolin jug was decorated with the number “2” inside of a looping design, and the jug had no chips or cracks. It was listed as “premium collector grade” and “worthy of any museum collection” in the catalog notes. Additional highlights from this sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
