ORLEANS, MASS. – It is in sorrow that the Cape Cod Antiques Dealers Association reports the passing of Bob Burns, vice president and manager of the CCADA’s Summer Antiques Exposition in Orleans.

Bob, who in recent times was not well, worked very hard and provided a varied group of top-notch professional show people for the August event. After four years of analysis, change and the setting of standards, Bob gave the show a CCADA imprint, a credit to his diligence and his commitment to making the exposition a signature show event of the year.

We lost Bob in October. He gave a valiant fight against any number of ailments which, in the end, provided too great a challenge, and he lost his fight to live. He hung on for years and was always optimistic that, in the end, he would prevail over all of those forces working against him. Sadly he did not. We will all miss him. He was the tops in his field, possessed with a terrific body of knowledge and business experience, and a friend to many.

He was also just Bob, a no-nonsense guy with a sharp tongue and sometimes a brutal and withering wit. But he loved this business, loved its stories and loved the gossip that comes with years of involvement and the association with many in the trade. He can not be replaced but we will all remember him.

His constant companion, Mr Bic, the Jack Russell terrier, is now happily living with the Bill Fidalgo family, close friends of Bob. The board has established a scholarship fund in Bob’s memory.
