BOSTON, MASS. — A dossier exhibition centering on pairing and juxtaposing works by Pablo Picasso (1881–1973) went up recently at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston (MFA) and remains on view until June 26. A loan of four major works from the Fondation Beyeler in Basel, Switzerland, and loans from private collections complement the MFA’s holdings of painting and sculpture by the artist, looking at different stages of his career and his exploration of form.

In this video, Katie Hanson, assistant curator, paintings, art of Europe, explains how this small-scale exhibition provides an extraordinary opportunity to look at Picasso’s creative process as well as his range of techniques and styles, with themes including the stylistic transformation of the human figure, variation of a single subject across works and emulation of revered artistic forebears.
