SAVANNAH, GA. — Three days of auction action at Everard Auctions & Appraisals led to 1,339 lots crossing the block between February 24-26. An acrylic on canvas painting by John Wesley (New York/California, b 1928) was the highest-earning lot of all three days, selling on day one, which featured fine and decorative art from the estate of interior designer Arthur B. Kouwenhoven, Jr, selling for $56,250 with premium. Titled “Floating Pig,” the 1967 work had provenance to the 1967 Annual Exhibition of Contemporary American Painting at the Whitney Museum of American Art and contained a label from the museum on its reverse. Additional highlights from all three days of the sale will be featured in an upcoming issue.
