Canvaswork Picture of a Vase of Flowers- Price Upon Request
This graphically stunning black background canvaswork picture of a vase of flowers is typical of floral needlework pictures popular in mid-Eighteenth Century. Worked by young ladies attending academies, this example is likely from New England. It would have been brought home and proudly displayed by the makers’ parents in the parlor or another formal room. It is wool and silk on linen canvas; 18½ by 16½ inches in the period frame. Probably American circa 1750. — www.antiquesamplers.com Stephen & Carol Huber Old Saybrook, CT 860-388-6809 Hubers@AntiqueSamplers.com www.antiquesamplers.com/
