PLAINFIELD, N.H. — William Smith Auctions presented its 519-lot Exceptional January Live Auction, highlighting the estate of artist and illustrator Ilse Bischoff (1901-1990), on January 28. The highest price of the auction was realized by a pair of vintage Verdura ear clips. The signed platinum ear clips were set with approximately 5 carats of round brilliant-cut natural diamonds. Each clip was 1¼ inches long and in very good condition. The pair was chased past its $8/12,000 estimate to achieve $18,750, including buyer’s premium, from an online bidder. An upcoming edition will include additional highlights from the auction.
