    BOSTON – After a two-year pandemic pause, the Boston International Fine Art Show (BIFAS) was back at Boston’s Center for the Arts October 20-23. Housed in the city’s 1884 Cyclorama Building in Boston’s South End, the glittering event welcomed 46 exhibitors, including 13 in its “Emerge” section, which presented the work of individual juried artists in dedicated booths at the front of the show.

    SAVANNAH, GA. – On October 19 and 20, Everard Auctions and Appraisals conducted a two-session sale of the collection of John and Virginia Duncan of Savannah, Ga., showcasing more than 70 years of collecting. John D. Duncan (1938-2022) was an author, historian and retired history professor who, with his wife Ginger (Virginia), established V&J Duncan Antique Maps in 1983.

  • Weiss Collection Headlines Nye & Company’s Estates Auction

    LOOMINGTON, N.J. – Nye & Company conducted its two-day Chic and Antique Estates Treasure auction on October 19 and 20, with more than 550 lots offered. The sale included property consigned from Stanley Weiss, a Rhode Island collector who focuses on early American furniture and art with an emphasis on objects from the Queen Anne to Neoclassical periods. Fine art and furniture were the dominant categories in the auction, which also included Asian art and antiques, decorative arts and collectibles.

  • Richard McElroy’s Collection Dispersed In D.L. Straight Sale

    STURBRIDGE, MASS. – Bidders lined up for an online-only sale conducted by D.L. Straight Auctioneers on October 22 to vie for estate-fresh antiques from local Connecticut artist and conservator Richard McElroy (b 1928). The sale offered many of McElroy’s original works of art, including local Connecticut landscapes as well as portrait paintings by Horace Bundy, Jeremiah Theus and others.
