SAN FRANCISCO, CALIF. – John Pence Gallery, at 750 Post Street, will present “Introductions 2000,” an exhibition of recent oil paintings by Sarah Lamb. The exhibition will continue through July 29.
Sarah Lamb is a late twenties painter affiliated with the Water Street Atelier in Brooklyn. The Atelier, founded by Jacob Collins, has quickly become the pivotal gathering place for accomplished young realist artists. All members are distinguished prior to their arrivals. In Lamb’s case, she graduated from Brenau University (The Woman’s College) in Gainesville, GA. in 1993. Prior to Water Street, she studied at the Art Student’s League in New York, at the L’Ecole Albert Defois in France, and with renowned private tutors in Atlanta.
Sarah Lamb’s “Introductions 2000” exhibition is largely dedicated to the still life. Her palette is brilliant, ranging from moody darks to exultant bright primary reds, yellows and blues. The moods she creates are at once personal and full of painterly feeling. Her brush strokes are lavish and highly controlled.
The San Francisco Art Dealers Association was the first major US city arts group to focus attention on emerging artists through the Introductions Program. Now in its 23rd years, the program has been recognized for its long-standing success. As a part of the city-wide Introductions 2000 program, SFADA will sponsor “A Summer Afternoon Art Walk” on Saturday, July 15 from 11 am to 5 pm.
