Altermann Galleries’ March 3 auction and set price sale realized $1,008,160. The top selling lot was a 22-by-30-inch oil by Olaf Wieghorst, “American Nomads,” ($45/60,000) that brought $66,000.
Six Wieghorst works in various mediums were offered, and all sold for a total of $157,080.
David Mann’s 43-by-36-inch oil, “Among the Enemy,” was an auction highlight, almost doubling its presale estimate ($18/21,000) by ending up at $38,400.
In the set price portion, the top selling lot was Elias Rivera’s “Outdoor Laundry” that brought $45,000.
“For this auction, we focus on low- to mid-price works of art,” said Tony Altermann. “We are trying to match the market to our clients who are wintering in Arizona. This is the third time we’ve held this March event, and this was the first time we exceeded $1,000,000 in sales.”
