NEW YORK CITY — The collection of one of America’s finest hostesses, a woman who entertained everyone from the Reagan’s to Sinatra, will hit the block through an online auction at Christie’s March 30 to April 6. Betsy Bloomingdale was considered a fashion icon and Los Angeles high society socialite throughout the mid-Twentieth Century, having married Alfred Bloomingdale, the heir to the department store fortune. Bloomingdale’s rooms were designed by famed interior designer William “Billy” Haines, known for his grasp of proper and tasteful interiors that produced a glimmer of conservative opulence.
