SCOTTSDALE, ARIZ. – The market for Western, wildlife and sporting art is still smoking hot, judging by Scottsdale Art Auction’s annual sale in Arizona. On April 8, the auction house – a partnership among J.N. Bartfield Galleries, Morris & Whiteside Galleries and Legacy Gallery – saw impressive results and at least two new records. “The Rattlesnake,” a 23-inch tall bronze by Frederic Remington, went to a private collector for $386,100 including premium, edging its $150/250,000 estimate. The partners also notched a new record for Philip R. Goodwin when the painting “Dangerous Sport” surpassed expectation to bring $339,300.
