COLUMBUS, OHIO — A tiger maple bed frame made by Ohio-based Neat Pieces in association with David T. Smith was the leading lot of Amelia Jeffers’ December 6 auction offering Americana, folk art and collectibles. Neat Pieces is a contemporary company that specializes in crafting “new” furniture out of antique pieces. This tiger maple bed was made with Nineteenth Century turned and carved bed posts and scrolled head- and footboards of reddish-brown tiger maple. The bed frame, which fits a queen-size mattress, was bought for $4,320, including buyer’s premium ($2/4,000). A more detailed review of the auction will be in a future issue.
