Authentic Rengma Naga large shell and carnelian necklace with wood support. Impressive example of tubular shell beads, faceted cylindrical and elliptical carnelian beads and cobalt tubular glass bead necklace with a neck rest of wood incorporated into the large shell at the back. Style is worn across the Southwestern Naga Hills in varying sizes and styles including the Angami, Rengma, Chakhesang and Sema tribes. The piece is 29 inches long and is in excellent condition for its use and age which is the early to mid 19th century.
