This diminutive Federal sideboard from the Newport Collection is a pleasing reproduction that can be attributed to the School of Thomas Howard, Jr., Rhode Island, circa 1790-1810. This sideboard features elegant proportions, string inlays to the legs and leading edge of its top, selective cross-banding to to the center doors and drawers and delicate intersecting vine inlays on the apron. A sideboard of this diminutive size is often referred to as a brandyboard since it also can serve as a bar with its double depth drawer and central cabinet.
