BOSTON, MASS. — On November 20, Grogan & Company sold a single-owner collection of over 100 Caucasian carpets. A Kuba prayer rug, dated 1810, in good condition, brought $61,000 and more than 15 other rugs finished in five figures. The collection had been assembled over the last 30 years by sophisticated collectors who literally traveled the world, seeking additions to their collection. Well-known in the rug collecting community, they bought from the best dealers, often being offered high quality rugs before others.
A complete report on the auction will follow in an upcoming edition.
