BROOKLYN, N.Y. — SJ Auctioneers presented 236 lots on September 3 during its Fine Décor, Sterling, Toys & Hobbies auction. Collectors were bidding on Daum paté de verre art glass, Steuben tableware, Cartier silverware, Baccarat paperweights, 18K gold jewelry and all-natural horn, bone and amber jewelry made in Tibet. Toy collectibles were also available such as Lionel trains, Matchbox vehicles, Disney collectibles and Steiff stuffed animals.
Sterling was particularly popular in this auction. A large pair of pheasants from J. Perez, Spain, sold for $2,112. Both showed maker’s marks and weighed 400 grams altogether. Two group lots of sterling dishes from Reed & Barton were bid to $743 and $576. From Shiebler, a Nineteenth Century sterling and enamel-decorated vase with a ruffled rim for $627. The George W. Shiebler & Company, New York City was founded in 1876 and closed in 1910.
Jewelry included a Trinity de Cartier cord bracelet with an 18K yellow gold, white gold and rose gold ring pendant, which was second in the auction at $755. Another cord bracelet from Bulgari’s Serpenti Forever line, showing a gold-plated and brass enameled figural snake’s head pendant, was bid to $627.
