DETROIT, MICH. — DuMouchelles December 14-15 auction gave eager bidders more than 1,000 lots of property from estates, private collections and other sellers. One of the surprises of the two-day event was a pair of Sevres pâte-sur-pâte porcelain plaques by Albert Louis Dammouse (French, 1848-1926) titled “Bellum and Pax (War and Peace),” which sold to a private New York buyer for $5,890, including buyer’s premium. Dammouse studied under his father, Pierre-Adolphe Dammouse, and Marc Louis Solon. Each measuring 20 by 16½ inches framed, and estimated at $1/2,000, the plaques were from the New York City estate of Drs Richard and Catherine Paskowski, who had displayed them for 50 years. More lots from their estate, and the rest of the sale, will be discussed in an upcoming auction review.
