SARASOTA, FLA. — In Helmuth Stone’s March 8 auction of fine art and antiques, a painting by Franz Richard Unterberger (Austrian, 1838-1902) beat out the 186 other lots to achieve the sale-high price of $24,570, including buyer’s premium. The painting, an oil on canvas measuring 42½ by 70¼ inches as framed, depicted a view of Torre del Greco in Naples, Italy. The work was signed to the lower left and hung in a gilded frame bearing a plaque with the artist’s name. More on this lot and others will be covered in an upcoming review.
